Women's Wellness Retreat

This weekend of women’s health and well-being will be led by Yoga Teacher, Psychotherapist & IFS Trainer  Olivia Lester and Shiatsu Practitioner Kate Burford. Olivia and Kate have been working in the arena of women’s health for many years and have a wealth of knowledge between them and a comfortable, easy way of working with each other.

The weekend will  encourage deep rest and time for self reflection as we practice restorative Yoga, Shiatsu based movement and guided meditation. There will be an Introduction to Internal Family Systems Therapy. The food will be delicious, healthy and vegetarian, there will be a chance to  sea swim if this is something you regularly enjoy and we can be in nature whether in the woods, on the cliffs or with the standing stones. The weekend will  inspire deep self-care and be nurturing and empowering for all our parts. Come and join us!

The garden studio is quiet, warm and spacious, the house is welcoming and comfortable and nestled into the woods away from everything which really allows us to quickly drop into rest and relax mode.

The price is £350 per person sharing a simple twin, £365  each sharing an ensuite twin and £475 for a single ensuite. There is possibility for rooms to be made into triples or doubles. Campervans are £300 per person.

Internal Family Systems Therapy

During our retreat, we will be doing an Introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS).

'IFS is a transformative tool that conceives of every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal.

IFS is frequently used as an evidence-based psychotherapy, helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. IFS creates inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts.' - IFS Institute (https://ifs-institute.com/)

Your Facilitators

Olivia Lester

Olivia has experience of teaching yoga for 25 plus years in a variety of settings including classes and workshops for pregnancy, postnatal and the elderly.

Her yoga and movement teaching has been inspired by yoga teachers John Stirk, Sandra Sabatini and Peter Blackaby and she also draws from her experience of practising Feldenkrais and Somatics taught by Sabine Blackaby and informed by Thomas Hanna’s work. These help to restore natural body movement and bring balance tour nervous system.

Olivia is also an IFS (Internal Family Systems) Institute Lead trainer and a qualified Registered Psychotherapist. The Internal Family Systems Method is a psychotherapy developed by Richard Swartz PhD. It is especially suitable for working with trauma in a safe, gentle and non-pathologising way.

Kate Burford

Kate has been practising and teaching Shiatsu to a wide variety of people for over 30 years.

She has worked extensively with women’s health; supporting women with Shiatsu to ease pregnancy, labour and the challenges that can arise during the menstrual and menopausal phases.

Although Kate has studied many different bodywork and healthcare modalities Shiatsu remains the bedrock of her life and work.

Her interest in the wisdom of Chinese medicine, passion for healthy eating, connection  with the natural world, experience of teaching self help and movement practices plus her love of working with beautiful essential oils will all be part of the nurturing you will receive over this weekend.
